What is it?

For Macro class we are to shoot a "What is it". This was shot with a Canon 7D 100mm 2.8L macro lens, 25mm extension Tube,Tripod, Shutter release Cable, Lighting was a Soft Box Hot Light (1000W). I shot 8 photos and stack focused using Photo Shop to be able to get the depth. When shooting I found it helpful to use the mirror lock up feature to prevent shake. A 2:1 Ratio, 1 sec. @ F/8 ISO 800. When metered the scene was F/22 but with my focus @ a 1:1 ratio that is -2 stops, extension tube -1 stop so I had to open up 3 stops total making my working aperture F/8.

  1. is it a mushroom? I like the lighting. Also, I read that you used stack focusing in photoshop - neat! I want to try that sometime.

  2. this looks way better on here then it did over the projector by far. This is a very nice, clean looking image with lots of detail. Nice Job!

  4. I tried doing this and couldn't make it work. If you have a spare few minutes at some point this week, I'd like to mind-meld with you about the process. Keep up the good work Jason!
